Our love story.
Kate met Brendan at Walter Reed Army Medical Center while doing her internship in June 2009. Brendan was there doing his physical and occupational therapy after being severely wounded in Iraq on Easter Sunday 2009. He is to date the only quadruple amputee (both arms and both legs) that has ever survived a major American war. Through daily interactions and therapy trips, we fell in love and Brendan proposed while recovering in the hospital after surgery on Thanksgiving 2009. We are still currently living at Walter Reed while Brendan is working on his rehabilitation.
Three important details about our Ultimate Wedding.
We plan on having the ceremony at the DC War Memorial on the National Mall, which honors those from DC who fought in World War I. Our dream reception would be at Union Station- where it is extremely beautiful, has a wonderful history, and is accessible. This is important of all of our venues not only for Brendan's sake but also for other friends that were injured in the war. Our 3rd detail would be to have a great cake for us as well as a cake that can be eaten by friends and family that have food allergies.
Our everyday dream day.
Our perfect day would be when Brendan is finally able to wear his prosthetic legs outside of the hospital! Whether it be to go see a movie, to travel to Pennsylvania to see where Kate grew up, or to just go grab some of Brendan's favorite cheeseburgers, this will be a perfect milestone day in our lives. After this, i think everyday will bring more perfect moments to our lives.
